Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Regarding Size Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Reaction

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Changes

Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
